Welcome to Downtown Oconomowoc

DOWNTOWN VISION STATEMENT
Downtown Oconomowoc is the historic center and heart of the community where all facets of community life come together: retail, services, government, neighborhoods, employment, transportation and recreation. More than any other part of the city, the downtown defines Oconomowoc as a community. Over the next 20 years, there will need to be changes to strengthen the downtown by capitalizing on its unique assets - its natural beauty, cultural heritage, friendly and inviting businesses and position as the Heart of the Lake Country.

The community adopted the downtown plan in July 2004. Here's an overview of the Plan and its goals. For more detailed information, refer to the Downtown Revitalization Plan.

Downtown Oconomowoc launches Image, Brand and Logo Campaign!

Addenda and questions will be posted here until Dec. 1, 2005
11/18/05

Q: After review of the RFP document provided, in reference to the Downtown Brand Development and Creative Services for the Partnership for a Prosperous Downtown Oconomowoc, we are in need of clarification.
Is it a branding strategy/campaign that you are looking for? By this I mean a campaign that would include public relations, internet and marketing/advertising. If this is the intent, what are the budget perimeters that should be worked with? Or, is the scope of the project strictly logo development and graphic standards, development of branding materials such as a pitch packet, as well as a web site for the Downtown (with no public relations, marketing or internet)?
Your insight would be greatly appreciated as we continue to move forward with preparing our response.

A: The scope of the project is primarily logo development with graphic standards, a downtown website, and identification of a downtown image, and branding materials. We are also looking to receive branding strategies relative to "launching" the new image and website for downtown, and in helping to establish Downtown Oconomowoc as a destination location (to live, work, shop and play) in SE Wisconsin. A new organization, The Partnership for a Prosperous Downtown is still developing the marketing budget for 2006. It would be helpful to have strategies that reflect several tiers of potential funding.

Master plan implementation is the logical step following the adoption of the plan. Implementation requires several key components to be successful. Implementation must be done with commitment - that is, the community must undertake plan implementation with the full understanding of its complexity, the time required, and the relationship and sequence of the plan's various elements. Implementation must be funded; the community must allocate adequate resources for staff, professional assistance, project funding, and financial leverage. Implementation requires partnerships; public and private sector individuals and organizations must come together as an implementation team. Finally, implementation must be dynamic; unanticipated redevelopment opportunities will present themselves throughout the process of unplanned implementation, so the implementation team must be able to assess and reprioritize on a continuous basis to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
